Role:                    Settlement and Reconciliations Officer

Reports to:          Head of Operations

Duty Station:       Kampala, Uganda


The Settlement and Reconciliations Officer will reconcile and settle transactions processed by the company and receive and resolve exceptions and queries arising from transaction processing. The Settlement and Reconciliations Officer will also receive and resolve issues arising from transaction processing and generate periodic reports as required by the company and regulators.


  1. Reconcile and verify settlement files from the Shared Agent Banking System (SABS) before settlement.
  2. Report inconsistencies during verification and reconciliation to the Technical team and line manager before settlement.
  3. Submit ABC Commission settlement files to the Bank of Uganda (BOU) by 10:00 am and other bank settlement files by 12:00 pm.
  4. Communicate settlement-related operations with the BOU National Payments Team.
  5. Review and process all transaction claims (bank reversals) in SABS.
  6. Coordinate with Customer Experience teams regarding processed and settled transaction claims.
  7. Assist member banks with reconciliation issues and provide timely support.
  8. Compile and file transaction vouchers and records daily.
  9. Assist with third-party business needs related to settlement and reconciliation.
  10. Follow key processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  11. Identify process gaps and suggest improvements.
  12. Prepare and issue customer invoices to banks and other customers monthly and as needed.
  13. Maintain and update a tracker of customer invoices and collections, ensuring timely payments.
  14. Manage petty cash disbursements and accountability.
  15. Support office administrative duties and other assigned responsibilities.
  16. Collaborate effectively to achieve operational excellence.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Commerce, Statistics, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Banking/Financial or Telecommunications sector.
  3. Proficient in data analytics, including the use of MS Excel and other data analysis tools.
