Job Description: Director of Studies
Reports to: The Head Teacher
General Information
The Director of Studies is a role based in Entebbe. The main roles of the Director of Studies include delivering, administering and overseeing the academic performance of the school. This role will involve working closely with the academic management team, pupils, teachers, staff in all departments of the school and other key stakeholders.
Main Duties
- Testing, placement and induction of pupils on arrival
- Maintaining pupil profiles on Class database
- Monitoring pupil progress and carrying out interventions as required
- Monitoring pupil attendance
- Interviewing potential pupils
- Leading and managing teaching team
- Chairing regular teachers’ meetings
- Timetabling teaching and emergency cover as required
- Carrying out appraisals for teachers
- Line management of the Social Activities
- Integrating social activities and the academic program
- Line managing the Resources Manager to oversee the supply of teaching materials and resources.
In conjunction with Academic Management Team
- Develop lesson observations and, as appropriate, manage underperformance
- Review and develop school syllabus
- Teacher recruitment
Requirements
- Qualification as a Teacher
- At least 3 years’ experience as Director of Studies
- Leadership, communication and coordination skills
